Thread lists for cross stitch
Sullivans (cotton alternative): numbers from Sullivans' official DMC chart; 100% cotton and the DMC number is printed on the label. Stitchers say it holds up well, though a few shades differ.
CXC (budget brand): sold mainly as full sets. Reviewers say it uses DMC-style numbers, but Floss Fox has no verified per-colour data or set contents, so it isn't offered per colour. Poly-cotton and a bit fluffier.
Metallic and variegated threads aren't substituted automatically. Colour swatches show the DMC colour only.

⚠️ Avoid unbranded "DMC-compatible" bags of floss. In one stitcher's wash test a no-name brand bled. Test a skein before a big project.
Optional. Keep track of the DMC floss you own, then compare it with a project. Your collection is saved only in this browser, on this device. It isn't synced, and clearing your browser's storage deletes it.

Color swatches are screen approximations, not thread proofs. Other brands come from published conversion charts. When a chart gives more than one match, or the sources disagree, you choose. Compare real thread before swapping it into a stitched piece.
